Episode 376 – Listener Call-in Show

Adriel and Trevor take calls on the air from listeners. Atlantic IPSC shooters bug Trevor about not going on non-essential travel, Adriel buys dumb stuff he doesn’t need because “it’s a good deal”, and we talk about winning hearts and minds.

Language is a bit spicy on this one, parental discretion is advised.

Episode 375 – Runkle of the Bailey

SFR can now say it has officially had the two coolest Ian’s in firearms on the show. This week, firearms lawyer, legal defence attorney and YouTuber Ian Runkle joins Adriel and Kelly to talk about his new YouTube channel “Runkle of the Bailey”. Ian focuses on legal information, education and commentary, with a focus on Canadian legal issues. Ian also chats with us about some recent firearm cases, legal challenges and his thoughts on legislation. Make sure you check out his channel, and while you’re at it subscribe, to SlamFire’s as well. Episode 374

Trevor and Adriel talk about Remington’s asset sell-off, knives, hunting, why bear spraying an officer a second time is a bad idea, and living in a van down by the river.

Sample letter to council person or mayor or whatever.

I went for informal and to the point. I would put the letter in your own words, but keep it short and sweet.

Hi [WHATEVER THEIR NAME IS],

I’m one of your constituents in [REGION]. The Liberal party reaffirmed today that they want to grant municipalities the ability to ban legal handgun ownership. I’d prefer if Edmonton would not move forward with any plans to ban them.

Legally owning a handgun in Canada is already very strict and involves a lot of vetting as well as daily automated security checks. Although the stats are difficult to find, for the places that keep stats (link here: https://www.iheartradio.ca/newstalk-1010/news/eighty-two-per-cent-of-handguns-in-toronto-come-from-the-u-s-saunders-1.10361296) most gang handguns used in crime are smuggled from the US. That makes banning legal ownership pretty ineffective in addressing gang crime and police seem to agree (link: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/winnipeg-handgun-ban-police-councillor-1.5425342)

Local sports shooting enthusiasts put on charity matches to benefit local charities like the Stollery, as well as Edmonton businesses like P&D, Cabela’s, Phoenix Gun range and Wild West in the mall.

I’d hate to see a positive community forced out of Edmonton because of misguided or ineffective legislation.

Thank you for your time,
[YOUR NAME]
